Gut Health Care for Women in Houston

Bloating by afternoon. Meals that never sit right. A stomach that seems to react to everything. These are common, but they are not normal, and you don't have to keep living around them. At Minnow Wellness, a women's functional medicine clinic in Houston, Texas, we test your gut in depth, find what's driving your symptoms, and build a step-by-step plan to heal it.

What are the signs of an unhealthy gut?

Gut imbalances show up in your digestion, and often far beyond it. Common signs include:

  • Bloating, gas, or a swollen belly that worsens through the day

  • Constipation, diarrhea, or alternating between the two

  • Reflux or heartburn

  • New food sensitivities, or reacting to foods you used to tolerate

  • Fatigue and brain fog after meals

  • Skin flares like acne, eczema, or rosacea

  • Anxiety or low mood that seems tied to how your stomach feels

How does gut health affect hormones?

Your gut helps your body clear used estrogen. When gut bacteria are out of balance, more estrogen can be recirculated instead of eliminated, which can worsen PMS, heavy periods, and other signs of estrogen dominance. Gut inflammation can also affect blood sugar, mood, and how well you absorb the nutrients your hormones depend on. That's why gut health is part of almost every hormone plan we build. What gut tests do you offer?

We offer three at-home stool tests. Your provider will recommend the one that fits your symptoms.

  • GI-MAP. Screens for pathogens, parasites, H. pylori, and imbalances in your gut bacteria, plus markers for digestion, inflammation, and gut immunity. Our go-to for bloating, IBS, and reflux that haven't been explained.

  • Gut Zoomer. Maps your gut microbiome in depth, along with pathogens and markers of digestion and gut lining health. A good fit when gut issues are tied to skin, mood, or autoimmune symptoms.

  • Biome FX. Sequences your microbiome to show its diversity and what your bacteria are actually doing, such as producing short-chain fatty acids or processing hormones.

Why test instead of just trying a gut cleanse?

Bloating from low stomach acid, a parasite, bacterial overgrowth, and poor estrogen clearance can feel exactly the same, but each needs a different plan. Testing tells us which one you're dealing with, so you aren't guessing through elimination diets and supplements that don't fit your body.

How do you heal the gut?

Every Minnow gut plan is built around your results and typically runs 2 to 3 months. It may include:

  • Targeted supplements chosen for your specific findings, with a clear daily schedule

  • Nutrition guidance, including a protein-forward plan and a focus on plant diversity to rebuild your microbiome

  • Mindful eating habits that help your body digest, like slowing down and chewing well

  • Daily habits that support gut repair, including sleep, morning light, stress practices, and alcohol limits

  • Support for related systems, like your adrenals and nervous system, when they're part of the picture

We recommend retesting at 3 to 6 months to confirm your gut is healing and adjust your plan.
